The Blue Skies of Air Force Academy turned vibrant with a taste of Grit, Pride and Happiness in wind flowing above by the passing out Cadets turned Officers.
Hyderabad,15 December, Flying Officer Priya Sharma got commissioned into the Indian Air Force as a Fighter Pilot. She was among 139 cadets who passed out from Indian Air Force Academy located at Dundigal, on the outskirts of city.
Flying Officer was from Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan. She will be seventh woman Fighter Pilot to be inducted in Indian Air Force and third from Jhunjhunu district. Among 139 Flying Officers belonging to different streams who were inducted into IAF on Saturday, there are two other women officers, Flying Officer V. Chandrika Charu, Flying Officer Shraddha Suresh who chose the Helicopter Stream.
She did her schooling from IIIT, Kota. She was in awe of Hawk and Jaguar planes of which she was aware as she used to see them regularly as her father was an Air Traffic Control Officer who was posted at Indian Air Force Station, Bidar and now she looks forward to fly them..
In a interveiw, Flying Officer Sharma who will be posted at IAF Training centre, Bidar for her stage 3 advance training said, I flew Pilatus PC7 and Kiran during my stage 2 training at Dundigal and Hakimpet. I am looking forward to Fly MiG-27.
The Indian Army has proposed to increase intake of women in more non combat roles such as cyber specialist, Army Chief Bipin Rawat said on the sideline of combined graduation parade at Air Force Academy held on December 15.
